The problems with the disk you showed me were not really problems at all:
- A worse "Read Error Rate" is indicated by a lower number. sdc's stats were currently 120, worst 099, and the threshold is 006. I think it is fine.
- Joe and I looked at the other disk that had the "Head Flying Time" with some astronomical number. Every digit in the number changes when you re-run the utility, so there is probably just something wrong with the way that is being generated.
- Everything else looked well within limits
I do think it's a good idea to get a mirror for sda though.

Some more problems:
- since sda has been replaced some time ago we don't have a mirror of that drive anymore (we used to have that before, so if one disk fails nothing happens).
However, currently the second drive for that mirror is installed but not used
- some disks will fail in the near future indicated by the S.M.A.R.T parameters of the disks
This time we should replace the disks BEFORE they fail
