The BS camber is open only. We should close ASAP
Outside air quality is 1.7- 2.2 million particles / cf min of 0.5 micron
|
Air is still bad and the chambers are closed. Before lunch Jamie repointed the PRM oplev. Manasa and I reset oplevs: BS and ITMX.
ETMX and ETMY are fine.
SRM and ITMY oplevs needs more work.
|
The bad outside air quality is pushing up the inside counts.
The outside air is 5 million counts / cf min for 0.3 micron and 2 million counts / cf min for 0.5 micron particles
Do not open chamber over 10,000 counts / cf min of 0.5 micron |

Steve | Update | General | clean assembly room benches cleaned up |
Manasa, Jamie and Steve,
Tip-Tilts and parts moved into the most north " 40m " cabinet in the assembly room.
Green-black glass and related components were moved to the 40m E0 cabinet in plastic boxes.
The north flow bench has a few items that belong to us: HE/Ne laser, qpd on translation stages, an iris and one red mirror. These were moved to the north edge of this bench.
However this leveled table is still full with other people's stuff |

Steve | Update | VAC | pumpdown at 230 Torr |
We are pumping down with RP1 & RP3 oily roughing pumps at 3 Torr/min speed. The butterfly valve was just removed.
The PSL shutter is open to vacuum at ~100 mW 1064 nm. The inter lock should close it at ~5 mTorr.
Rana will shut down pumping tonight.
He will close V3 from screen, close RV1 valve with torque wheel, turn off roughing pumps and disconnect hose between RV1 and roughing pumps.
I will restart pumping early morning tomorrow.

Vacuum valve VM3 closed and VM2 opened, it switched the RGA to IFO scanning mode. CC4 = 3.5e-6 Torr
TP3 is pumping on the annuloses, their pressures are 1-3 mTorr
Vacuum condition reached the state of Vacuum Normal. The MEDM screen "Current State" channel does not work because we disconnected some valves after the VME swap CAOS
Note: TP1 Maglev performance on Atm2 CC4 = 4e-9 Torr when VM2 valve was open

Steve | HowTo | VAC | dry-forepump replaced |
TP3 turbo pump's dry-foreline pump was replaced.
How to do it:
The pump should be replaced when it's performance <1.0 - 1.3 Torr
Set up valve configuration as shown at Atm1: close in this order VAEE, VASV, VABS, VASV, VASE, VA6 and V5,
Turn TP3 off at it's controller in the rack. Wait till is stops, so you can read 760 Torr at TP3 foreline gauge
Disconnect intake, exhaust vacuum seals and replace pump. Reconnect vacuum fitting and start it up.
Confirm operational details on the front of the controller: 50 K_RPM, 0.2A and <100 mTorr
Reset valves in reverse order
PS: the average life of the tip seal on the Varian SSH-110 dry-pump is about 1 year
This pump " ser LP1007L556 " seal made new record of 668 days: thanks to Bob Taylor who is replacing these seals

Details of the warranties are posted on wiki power supply cost, warranty described, cost
.......I’ve also attached a warranty renewal quote. A 1 year warranty renewal is usually $.... per year, but we gave you special pricing of $.... / year if you renew both units. This pricing is also special due to the fact that both warranties expired awhile ago. We usually require that the warranty renewal begin on the date of expiration, but we will waive this for you this time if both are renewed.
JetStor SATA 416S, SN: SB09040111A3 – expired 04/24/2012 (3 years old)
JetStor SATA 516F, SN: SB09080016P – expired on 08/21/2012........
. Are we keep it for an other 2 years? buy warranty or buy better storage.

Steve | Update | 40m Upgrading | Endtable upgrade |
My full effort to get the optical table enclosure ready for the lab has failed today.
What I did: cut IR thermashield sheets to size for sides and top and sandwitched them beetween 1" and 1/4" acrylic.
The carpenter shop recut the bottom o -ring groove to 0.250" wide and 0.150" deep.
O-ring was cut and installed. So this was ready to go lab.
NO, I realized that the liner yellow acrylic was not cut correctly. It was larger than 1" wall.
The shop is cutting them down to fit and I have to resize IR shields |

Glued surgical latex tubing with super glue into O-ring shape. The existing in place tubing K-100, OD 0.125" (actual size 0.140"), wall 0.031", ID 0.062".
I have just found out that tolerances on tubing OD are + - 0.026" by the manufacturer. I'm getting larger tubing for better fit.
The table is ready for optics.
Things left to do:
1, finalize o-ring size 2, finish cable feedthrough 3, finalize window connection 4, IR-Thermashield strips for bridge sides 5, replace bridge support post with solid one

Steve | Update | 40m Upgrading | ETMY enclosure wall transmission |
Enclosure cover #1 transmission measured in 1064 nm, 156 mW, P polarization and beam size ~ 1 mm
As condition: fully assembled, protective layer removed, tinted- adhesive activated on yellow acrylic on top of each other.
T = 1.2 % in 20 minutes exposure test. This agrees with the test measurement of 6-18-2012
There is a reflected 2-3 cm circular glare that is barely visible on sensor card. It is well below 1 mW level
As we are installing the NPRO with ~350 mW of power we have to address what additional shield should be installed.
The June 2012 test with 1W power burned through of the 3 layer IR coated films in 3-4 hours.
We 'll use Aluminum shields in the high power path till we come up with better solution. |

Steve | Update | 40m Upgrading | Endtable upgrade for auxiliary green laser : TRY temporarily in place |
Quote: |
The TRY path on the end table is temporarily in place to help IFO locking.
The Y arm transmission was steered to get TRY back on the PD and the camera. I found that TRY is a couple of inches off in yaw at the end table (comparing to the CAD layout and the earlier layout) and I believe it is because of the changes in input pointing.
I've used a Y1 mirror to steer the Y transmission to an R98% BS. The reflected beam falls on PDA520 and the transmitted beam is steered to the camera. The earlier normalization of TRY is no more valid as the power distribution at the PD has changed.
