steve | Update | safety | safety audit 2014 |
We had our annual safety inspection today. Our SOPs are outdated. The full list of needed correction will be posted tomorrow.
The most useful found was that the ITMX-ISCT ac power is coming from 1Y1 rack. This should actually go to 1Y2 LSC rack ?
Please test this so we do not create more ground loops. |

The IMC has not been behaving well since this morning and totally not happy when Q was finishing his measurements. The WFS servo had large offsets in pitch. Looking back at the trend and using ezcaservo to restore the suspensions did not help.
I realigned the IMC and brought TRANS SUM to ~18000 and MCREFL to < 0.5. The spot positions are not very good; nearly 2 mm off in pitch on MC1 and MC3. But after the alignment of MC, the WFS servo offsets were below +/-20.
The MC has been locked stably with WFS servo ON for the last few hours.
P.S. I did not touch the WFS pointing or reset the WFS offsets.
|
MC remained locked with WFS enabled all through last night and this morning. Koji dropped by and looked at the MC. The MC WFS servo, though stable, was at the edge of becoming unstable. This was because I did not touch the WFS pointing on the QPDs yesterday after realigning. So I recentered the WFS, reset the WFS filterbank offsets and reenabled the servo.
I measured the spot positions on MC mirrors for reference.
Spot positions in mm (MC1,2,3 pit MC1,2,3 yaw): [1.405767579680834, 0.79369009503571208, 1.3220430681427462, -1.2937873599406551, -1.1704264340968924, -1.2518046122798692]

W2-PW1-1004-C-633-1064-0 This 0.045" thick window has 0.7- 0.8 % reflected beam on each sides at 5 degrees of incidence, P polarization.
The specification is R avg <0.5 % per surface at 0 degree

|
CVI V-AR coating at 1064 nm, 0 degree, catalog item is R< 0.25% on each sides,
R <0.1 % is custom at much higher prices.
This custom order should go with other orders that has similar need.
From CVI: 5-6-2014
I checked the trace info on the W2-PW1-1004-C-633-1064-0, BBAR coated window that you received. It is side 1, 0.42%R & side 2, 0.53%R @ 1064nm. And with the shift, I’m not too surprised you ended up with 0.7%. A V coat would start with <0.25% (and more typically coming in at ~0.1%) per surface. As far as stock options, I have a 1”dia x 4mmT, fused silica window that is recorded as side 1, R=0.09 and Side 2, R=0.08% @ 1064. Is this too think or will it work for you?

Aluminum mounting base plates of Thorlabs BA2 and Newport B-2 were replaced by plates or post made out of delrin material.
This is an insulator. DELRIN base plates were installed 6 places. The oplev-qpd has Nylon base plate.
The NPRO and HE/NE lasers are not isolated from the table. S8 and S9
I'm not sure about the doubling oven S10
The optical table is grounded at G11 through ~1 Mohms to the ETMY chamber.
Alignment touch up needed at all D-marked component!

Window tinted layer transmission plot is below.
We have a film which may meet your requirements and the values are shown below:
Wavelength (nm) Transmission Reflectance(front) Reflectance (back)
1060 .0772 .604 .759
1070 .0723 .615 .772
These values are taken from the LBNL Optics 6 program and if you have access to that program, the NFRC ID for the film is 202. If you do not have access to the program, I have a captured the graph which may be of some help. I apologize for the appearance of the graph but someone at LBNL decided it would look better with a dark gray background – the yellow is the transmission curve, the blue is the reflectance (front) and the green is the reflectance (back).

The film is referred to as “Hilite 70” and has a 72% visible light transmission. These results were obtained with the film mounted on 1/8” clear glass.
