*This is to notify you that the Caltech Campus experienced a campus wide power glitch at approx. 6:20 a.m. this morning.
The city was contacted and they do not expect any further interruptions related to this event.
The vacuum was not effected. ITM sus damping restored. IFO room air conditions on.
PSL Innolight and ETMY Lightwave lasers turned on

After much trial and error with whitening gains, demod phases and overall loop gains, I was finally able to lock the DRMI on both 1f and 3f signals! I went through things in the following order tonight:
I have noted all the settings I used tonight, I will post them tomorrow. I was planning to try a DRFPMI lock if I was successful with the DRMI earlier tonight, but I'm calling it a night for now. But I think the DRMI locking is now back to a reliable level, and we can push ahead with the full IFO lock...
It remains to update the auto-configure scripts to restore the optimized settings from tonight, I am leaving this to tomorrow as well...
Vivitek D952HD sn2160130 was send out for warranty repair. It's hard to believe that it has a 5 year warranty...... RMA - WR16004483.....expected to be back by Friday, Dec 2
The projector failed just now with a pretty loud 'pop' sound - I've never been present when the lamp goes out, so I don't know if this is usual. I have left the power cable unplugged for now...

The Rga was turned on yesterday.
The RGA is removed for repaire. It's volume at atmophere and sealed.. P4 reading of 38 Torr is not correct.
TP3 drypump replaced at 655 mTorr, no load, tp3 0.3A
This seal lasted only for 33 days at 123,840 hrs
The replacement is performing well: TP3 foreline pressure is 55 mTorr, no load, tp3 0.15A at 15 min [ 13.1 mTorr at d5 ]
Valve configuration: Vacuum Normal, ITcc 8.5E-6 Torr
Dry pump of TP3 replaced after 9.5 months of operation.[ 45 mTorr d3 ]
The annulosses are pumped.
Valve configuration: vac normal, IFO pressure 4.5E-5 Torr [1.6E-5 Torr d3 ] on new ITcc gauge, RGA is not installed yet.
Note how fast the pressure is dropping when the vent is short.
IFO pressure 1.7E-4 Torr on new not logged cold cathode gauge. P1 <7E-4 Torr

TP3 was turned off with a failing drypump. It will be replaced tomorrow.
All time stamps are blank on the MEDM screens.
The vacuum envelope ~1 C warmer today than 7 days ago. Bad peaks are coming down as normal.
400 days plot. Satelite amp ITMY has been swapped with ETMY
Unlabeled sat.amps are labeled. This plot only makes sense if you know the Cuh-Razy sat amp locations.
The new SOS sus wire finally is stored in a nitrogen filled dessicator. This was recommended by Ca. Fine Wire to minimize the aging - oxidation.
The dessicator was pumped down with " aux-drypump " to 1 Torr and than filled up with N2 to 760 Torr. This was repeated 2x and the dessicator was sealed off.
No damage. ITMY is glitching, so it has not been damped.

RGA head temp: 43.5 C
Vac envelope temp: 23 C
Sus damping restored.
There was a power glitch last night around 1:15am
The vacuum was not effected.
PSL laser turned on, PMC locked, PSL shutter opened and MC locked.

Caltech Facilities promissed to email the 40m facility drawings in Cad format.
I organized the old of optical , vacuum and facility layout drawings on paper in the old cabinet.
Manasa pointed me to the CAD drawings in the 40m SVN and I've now uploaded them to the 40m DCC Tree so that EricG and SteveV can convert them into SolidWorks.

This is one of those unsolved door lock acquisition problems. Its been happening for years.
Please ask facilities to increase the strength of the door tensioner so that it closes with more force.

The old control room AC has been stick in heating mode for about 2 months. It's thermostate and fan belt was finally replaced. It was calibrated and set to 71 F ( just behind 1X6 on west wall ) around 1pm.

As part of the ongoing debugging, I've switched the MC1 and MC3 satellite boxes. Both MC1 and MC3 have their watchdogs shudown for the moment.
In the last 3.5 hours, there has been nothing conclusive - no evidence of any glitching in either MC1 or MC3 sensor channels. I am going to hold off on doing the LEMO cable swap test for a few more hours, to see if we can rule out the satellite box.

It is hanging in the midle of the PSL enclosure. Wired to 1X1 to get plus and minus 15V through fuse. It's output is connected to FB c17 input.
GV: C17 corresponds to "MIC 1" in the PEM model. So the output is saved as "C1:PEM-MIC_1_OUT_DQ"
I added an EM172 to my soldered circuit and it seems to be working so far. I have taken a spectra using the EM172 in ambient noise in the control room as well as in white noise from Audacity. My computer's speakers are not very good so the white noise results aren't great but this was mainly to confirm that the microphone is actually working.
Two day plot of glitching suspentions: MC3, ITMY and ETMX
ETMY He/Ne 1103P body temp is ~45 C The laser was seated loosely in the V-mount with black rubber padding.
The enclosure has a stinky plastic smell from this black plastic. This laser was installed on Oct 5, 2016 See 1 year plot.
Oplev servo turned off. Thermocouple attached to the He/Ne
It will be replaced tomorrow morning.
On the control room monitors, I noticed that the IR TEM00 spot was moving around rather a lot in the Y arm. The last time this happened had something to do with the ETMY Oplev, so I took a look at the 30 day trend of the QPD sum, and saw that it was decaying steeply (Steve will update with a long term trend plot shortly). I noticed the RIN also seemed rather high, judging by how much the EPICS channel reading for the QPD sum was jumping around. Attached are the RIN spectra, taken with the OL spot well centered on the QPD and the arms locked to IR. Steve will swap the laser out if it is indeed the cluprit.
The 3 pieces of Sapphire v-groove test cuts are back. They look good. The suspension wire 0.0017" ( 43 micron ) is show on some of the pictures.
This AmScope microscope would have 3.5x-180x magnification, calibratable measurement function, 5MP picture and good working distance to work on printed circuit boards.
The bottom 5 cable connections from Sat-Amp to Whittering Filter at 1X5 were clamped today.

Caltech Electrical Distribution System that is expected to be transparent to Caltech,
but could result in a minor power anomaly that might affect very sensitive equipment.
IMPACT: Negligible impact......?
There may be temporary power interruption tomorrow!

This bulb was blown out on Feb 4, 2017 after 2 months of operation.
The microscope shipped back to the vendor for credit yesterday.

Corrected oplev laser RIN plot at day 3
GV: The channel the PD Steve is using is hooked up to C1:ALS-FC_X_F_IN. As I found out today, there can be considerable RF pickup between the C1:ALS-FC_X_F_IN and C1:ALS-FC_Y_F_IN channels, which share a common 4-pin LEMO cable - this is because the rise time of the square wave output of the Wenzel dividers is <1us, so suitability of this particular channel for the RIN measurement set up has to be reconsidered. Perhaps we can use one of the six spare PEM channels over at 1X6.

16 years old Lightwave NPRO M126-1064-700, sn 415 power output is tripping continously to zero.
The Lightwave Controller 125/126-OPN-POS sn516 was used in this test. Settings were lowered to close to nominal values without any success.
One can not determine what is broken: head or controller. This NPRO head was under Manasa's desk.
Property tag found.
We did the following:
1, switched data channel from C1:ALS-FC_X_F_IN to C1:PEM-MIC_1_OUT_DQ Actual connection at 1X7 rack, input C17
Tested channel with 1Hz, 100 mV sine wave through DV
2, placed BS into the beam path so the reflected value on the PDA100A 0.1mW, beam od ~1mm, beam path lenght 11 cm, gain 20dB 3.7Vdc
The full output of this 1103P 2.8 mW was saturating the PDA100A
Summery :finding it to be too good to be this good
I removed the video monitoring can and replaced it with Olympus SP-570UZ camera. It has no IR blocker. The OSEM light are dominant because I can not zoom in more.
I left the camera in place so you can try it. Leave the LEXAN plate on the glass window so no accident can happen. The illuminator is on and you can turn it off-on with the manual switch, close to the camera. Camera manual is on my desk.

Both belts were replaced and the unit is running happily.
ETMX oplev laser is dead. It will be replaced this after noon. Sus damping recovered.
