ETMX oplev laser is dead. It will be replaced this after noon. Sus damping recovered.
This 3 years old HeNe [ JDS 1103P, sn 351889 ] has been dying for some time or just playing possum at age 1,126 days
I did not replace the ETMX oplev laser because I was unable to bring up the the C1ASC_ETMX_OPTLEV_SERVO medm screen on laptops.
Finally I see what kicks the sus damping off
Huh? So should we ask them to put the container back? Or do you have some other theory about ETMX tripping that is not garbage related?

Note: The giant metal garbage container was moved from the south west corner of CES months ago.

GV 17 March 3pm: I found the Innolight NPRO was off when I walked down to the X end earlier, possibly was accidentally tripped during the Oplev laser replacement. I turned it back on.

The logging script is multiplying by 100 instead of 10 !
The MET#1 particle counter was moved from CES wall at ITMX to PSL enclousure south west corner at 11am.
The HEPA filter speed at the Variac was turned down to 20V from 40
This counter pumps air for 1 minute in every 20 minutes. Soft foam in bags used to minimize this shaking as it is clamped.
Some one turned up the PSL HEPA rotation voltage from 20 V to 33 ( 120V Variac ) and X-arm AC set temp lowered to 68F
Effects at 12" height from optical table :
1.0, 0.5 & 0.3 micron particle count goes to zero and temperature fluctuaion increased
Rotation speed voltage was set to 30V
The X arm air conditioner was not regulating properly. The arm temp was warmer than usual. I requested thermistor calibration.
The mechanic reset the thermostate to 68F last week. It was 70-71F before.
The ETMX oplev laser now running 4 C lower at 30 C inside the enclousure.
The ETMX optical table top is 5 C cooler at 21 C
The ETMX concrete wall temp 20 C at 9am with flow bench on.
ETMY conrete wall temp 23 C at 9am
Three replacement bulbs ordered

This bulb was blown out on Feb 4, 2017 after 2 months of operation.
The summery pages are working at a slow motion speed. It's response time 12 minutes.
Laser safety glasses cleaned in " Dawn Ultra " mild soap - water solution and measured for 1064 nm transmission at 150 mW

Why ITMY UL can not see this earth quake? SRM and PRM are misaligned. ETMX is still not well.
We have to remember to check OSEM - magnet alignment when vented.
Yesterday I failed to take good pictures of ETMY resonant arm of 1064 nm with Cannon Rebel T3i in RAW 22-27Mp & JPG dual- format. UFRaw file converter worked well. The IR blocker filter seems to be too good.
Today I used Olympus SP-570UZ ( without IR blocker), in raw format of 15Mp, fl 22.4mm, 15s including 2-3s flashlight, f/8 and auto focus This is just too much scattered IR for the Olympus.
Overexposed raw picture' jpg is shown at the PSL with diffraction patter of the camera.
I'll go back using the Nikon D40 with zoom 55-200mm as this Atm2 of May 2007 : manual focus, 15s, f/4-5.6, ISO 560, 826KB
MC2 ccd camera is replaced by Olympus 570 zoom temporarly.
So as the ETMY ccd camera is replaced by Cannon Rebel.
Both viewport are under Lexan protection and covered by Aluminum foil....still, turn all lighting off if you do not want room light in the IFO

Surge protective power strip was install on Friday, May 5 in the Control Room
Computers not connected to the UPS are plugged into Isobar12ultra.
That's a new failure mode. Probably we can't trust the power to be safe anymore.
Need Steve to order a couple of surge suppressing power strips for the monitors. The computers are already on the UPS, so they don't need it.
Early surfs of India Jigyasa and Kaustubh received basic 40m specific safety traning.
Sus dampings recovered. ETMY oplev needs to be recentered.
Olympus camera is removed and our old CCD camera is back to monitor the face of MC2

Finally I reallized what is killing the ETMY oplev laser. Wrong power supply, it was driving the HeNe laser by 600V higher voltage than recommended. Power supply 101T-2300Vdc replaced by 101T-1700Vdc ( Uniphase model 1201-1, sn 2712420 )
The laser head 1103P, sn P947049 lived for 120 days and it was replaced by sn P964431 New laser output 2.8 mW, quadrant sum 19,750 counts
Ruby wire standoff received from China. I looked one of them with our small USB camera. They did a good job. The long edges of the prism are chipped.
The v-groove cutter must avoid them. Pictures will follow.

Thanks to Steve and Gautam, the IMC was locked.
I was able to capture images with the Rainbow 50 mm lens at exposure times of 100, 300, 1000, 3000, 10000 and 30 microseconds.(The pictures are in the same order). These pictures were taken at a gain of 300 and black level 64.
Special credits to Steve spent a lot of time help me a with setting up the hardware and focusing on the beam spot with the camera.

In the afternoon, Steve and I tried to install the camera near MC2 and get some images of the mirrors. Due to a restricted field of view of the lens on the camera, after many efforts to focus on the optic, we were able to get this image. MC2 was unlocked so this image captures some resonating higher order mode.
With MC2 locked, I will get some images of the mirror at different exposure times and try to get an HDR image.
The Y arm ac thermostate was calibrated after cooling water relay replacement by Mike.... yesterday. The set temp is remaind to be 70F
The east end south wall temp is reading 22C
The medm monitor & vac control screens were totally blank since ~ May 24, 2017 Experienced vacuum knowledge is required for this job.
IDENTIFY valve configuration:
How to confirm valve configuration when all vac mons are blank? Each valve has a manual-mechanical position indicator. Look at pressure readings and turbo pump controllers. VAC NORMAL configuration was confirmed based on these information.
Preparation: disconnect valves ( disconnect meaning: valve closes and stays paralized ) in this sequence VC2, VC1 power, VA6, V5, V4 & V1 power, at ifo pressure 7.3E-6 Torr-it ( it = InstruTech cold cathode gauge )
This gauge is independent from all other rack mounted instrumentation and it is still not logged.
Switching to this valve configuration with disconnected valves will insure NOT venting of the vacuum envelope by accidental glitching voltage drop or computer malfunction.
RESET v1Vac1 .........in 2-3 minutes........ ( v1Vac1 - 2 ) the vac control screen started reading pressures & position
Connected cables to valves (meaning: valve will open if it was open before it was disconnected and it will be control able from computer ) in the following order: V4, V1 power, V5, VA6, VC2 & VC1 power, at ifo 2E-5 Torr-it.....
....vac configuration is reading VAC NORMAL,
ifo 7.4E-6 Torr-it
We have to hook up the it-cold cathode gauge to be monitored - logged ! this should be the substitute for the out of order CC1 pressure gauge.

GV edit 11:30am: I think the stuff at 10:28 is not a glitch but just the WFS servos coming on - the IMC was only hand aligned before this.
It happened again. MC2 UL seems to have gotten the biggest glitch. It's a rather small jump in the signal level compared to what I have seen in the recent past in connection with suspect Satellite boxes, and LL and UR sensors barely see it.
I will squish Sat box cables and check the cabling at the coil driver board end as well, given that these are two areas where there has been some work recently. WFS loops will remain off till I figure this out. At least the (newly centered) DC spot positions on the WFS and MC2 TRANS QPD should serve as some kind of reference for good MC alignment.
GV edit 9pm: I tightened up all the cables, but doesn't seem to have helped. There was another, larger glitch just now. UR and LL basically don't see it at all (see Attachment #2). It also seems to be a much slower process than the glitches seen on MC1, with the misalignment happening over a few seconds (it is also a lot slower). I have to see if this is consistent with a glitch in the bias voltage to one of the coils which gets low passed by a 4xpole@1Hz filter.
Once we had the beam approximately centered for all of the above 3 PDs, we turned on the locking for IMC, and it seems to work just fine. We are waiting for another hour for switching on the angular allignment for the mirrors to make sure the alignment holds with WFS turned off.
GigE can be connected to ethernet. AR coated 1064 f50 can arrive any day now.
One of the additional GigE cameras has been IP configured for use and installation.

The liquid nitrogen container has a pressure releif valve set to 35 PSI This valve will open periodically when contains LN2
The exiting very cold gas can cause burning so it should not hit directly your eyes or skin. Set the pointing of this valve into the corner.
Leave entry door open so nitrogen concentration can not build up.
Bluebean Optical Tech Limited of Shanghai delivered 50 pieces red ruby prisms with radius. The first prism pictures were taken at June 5
and it was retaken again as BB#1 later
More samples were selected randomly as one from each bag of 5 and labeled as BB#2.......6
The R10 mm radius can be seen agains the ruler edge. The v-groove edge was labeled with blue marker and pictures were taken
from both side of this ridge. The top view is shown as the wire laying across on it.
SOS sus wire of 43 micron OD used as calibration as it was placed close to the side that it was focused on.
The V-groove ridge surface quality was evaluated based on as scale of 1 – 10 with 10 being the most positive.
Remaining thing to examin, take picture of the contacting ridge to SOS from the side.
1103P, sn P893518 of 2013 vintage is dead at the sus fiber demo
July 19, 2017 1103P, sn P964438 as new installed at the south end for the glass fiber illumination. Turn laser off when you are done.
Also ordered 1 ea.

Ifo pressure was 5.5 mTorr this Monday morning. The PSL shutter was still open. TP2 controller failed. Interlock closed V1, V4 and VM1
Turbo pump 2 is the fore pump of the Maglev. The pressure here was 3.9 Torr so The Maglev got warm ~38C but it was still rotating at 560 Hz normal with closed V1
Pressure plots are not available because of computer problems.
What I did:
Looked at pressures of Hornet and Super Bee Instru Tech. Inc
Closed all annuloses and VA6, disconnected V4 and VA6 and turned on external fan to cool Maglev
Opened V7 to pump the Maglev fore line with TP3
V1 opened manually when foreline pressure dropped to <2mTorr at P2 and the body temp of the Maglev cooled down to 25-27 C
VM1 opened at 1e-5 Torr
Valve configuration: vacuum normal with annuloses not pumped
Ifo pressure 8.5e-6 Torr -IT at 10am, P2 foreline pressure 64 mTorr, TP3 controller 0.17A 22C 50Krpm
note: all valves open manually, interlock can only close them
While walking down to the X end to reset c1iscex I heard what I would call a "rythmic squnching" sound coming from under the turbo pump. I would have said the sound was coming from a roughing pump, but none of them are on (as far as I can tell).
Steve maybe look into this??

The RGA did not shut down at the turbo pump controller failing.

Spare Varian turbo-V 70 controller, Model 969-9505, sn 21612 was swapped in. It is running the turbo fine @ 50Krpm but it does not allow it's V4 valve to be opened............
It turns out that TP2 @ 75Krpm will allow V4 to open and close. This must be a software issue.
So Vacuum Normal is operational if TP2 is running 75,000 rpm
We want to run at 50,000 rpm on the long term.
Note: the RS232 Dsub connector on the back of this controller is mounted 180 degrees opposite than TP3 and old failed TP2 controller

IFO pressure 2 Torr, PSL shutter closed. I'm pumping down with 2 roughing pumps with ion pump gate valves open and annulosses at atm.
The vacuum envelope was vented to 17 Torr while I was replacing the USP battery stack. More about this later.....
Do not plan on using the interferrometer tonight. I will complete the pumpdown tomorrow morning.
