Steve | Update | Green Locking | Xend green layout corrections |
Quote: |
Shutter moved, no more clipping.
Pick-off mirror 2" replaced by 1" one. Laseroptik HR 532nm, incident angle 30-45 degrees, AR 532 nm
Green REFL PD moved to 4" close to pick-off mirror. Pd being close to pick-off does not separate multiple reflections on it. I'll replace Laseroptic mirror with Al one. It is not easy to find.
Hole cut into side wall for doubler oven cable to exit.
|
Beam trap for Pd refl is in place. Cabeling is ti·died up.
Laseroptic 1" mirror is replaced by Al 1" mirror. Problem remains the same. This diffraction patter has to be coming from the Faraday.
Atm1, good separation when Pd is far
Atm2, bad separation when Pd is close |

Quote: |
1, Vacuum envelope grounds must be connected all times! After door removal reconnect both cables immediately.
2, The crane folding had a new issue of getting cut as picture shows.
3, Too much oplev light is scattered. This picture was taken just before we put on the heavy door.
4, We were unprepared to hold the smaller side chamber door 29" od of the IOC
5, Silicon bronze 1/2-13 nuts for chamber doors will be replaced. They are not smooth turning.

Steve | Update | VAC | vertex crane folding issue |
[Fred Goldbar, Mike Gerfen, Dennis Coyne and Steve]
We inspected the hinge, 1.25" cross pin and I-beams. It is hard to explain what is causing the folding I-beam corner to jam against the main I-beam.
To limit the motion of the folding I-beam cross pin bushing will be added. This will take a week to complete.

Atm1, The folding arm is back on with 0.1" misalignment at no load in the trolly's way. The other side of the I beam is 0.02" higher than the main beam.. New bushing and pin were greased up with Krytox before installation.
The axial Zerk 1/8" pipe in the pin upper end can not take any fitting. There is no room. It is taped off.
This gap comes down to ~ 1/16" at fully extended arm with 225 lbs load at the end of it.
The present plan is to grind down the the misalignment of 0.1" for a slow-loaded trolly.
Steve Baker of Konacranes will be back to grind down this ridge and load test at 500 lbs on Tuesday, OCT 1, 2013

Steve | Update | PEM | particle counts |
How can we improve the cleanliness of the 40m IFO room 104 ? May be Mario Batali crocs if you chief chef of the lab likes it. We can do more effective things.
Atm 1 is showing the lab air quality dependence on outside air measured at the top of the IOO chamber. This made me to measure the differential pressure between lab and out side.
Properly sized air conditioner is over pressurizing it's room by 0.05 [" Water] like clean assembly room.
The 40m at Vertex location is barely getting pressurized to 0.01 " W
The control room is OK with 0.04 " W but it's air quality is very bad! It is 10x worse at 0.5 micron than IFO room.
Every entry from well pressurized control room into barely pressurized IFO pumps dirty air to our "clean room."
This door should be closed.
The drill- room entry is ideal because it is using the same air conditioner as the main lab, therefore it has cleaner air.
Things to do: seal holes of CES walls, seal paint wall at south end so it will shed less, replace gas kits on doors.
I have plugged the cable tray space entering the control room above Rosalba. |

The smoke alarms were turned off and surrounding areas were covered with plastic.

Load bearing cable moved into correct position. New folding spring installed.
Crane calibration was done at 500 lbs at the end of the fully extended jib.
Than we realized that the rotating wheel limit switch stopped working.
This means that the crane is still out of order.

I wonder what's drifting between the laser and the PMC? And why is it getting worse lately?
|
The PMC refl is bad in pitch today, and the transmission is only 0.76, rather than our usual 0.83ish.
I did a quick, rough tweak-up of the alignment, and now we're at 0.825 in transmission.

The PMC transmission continuously degrades. In order to see what is really drifting the laser output after PBS was sampled as shown. |

Steve | Update | IOO | beam dumps to be find |
Quote: |
Quote: |
Steve, can you please put 2 mounted razor dumps near the WFS for this purpose??
Tuesday: Razor dumps are waiting for you.
|
I couldn't find any dumps near the WFS. Koji looked. I looked twice. Maybe they are spooky and absorbing all of the light?
The MC alignment was bad and the WFS were making it drift. Koji aligned the beam into the PMC. I then restored the MC suspensions to where they were 8 days ago (back when the transmission and reflection were good). With the WFS OFF, this gave us a MC trans ~ 16000. With WFS ON it goes to 17500 which is about as good as its been over the last 80 days.
I centered the beam on the WFS with the MC unlocked and also centered the beam on the whole WFS path (it was near clipping between WFS 1 & 2). Also for some reason that beamsplitter which steers the beam onto WFS1 is a R=33% (!? why is this not a R=50% ??).
Steve, please swap this out to a BS1-1064-50-1025-45S if we have one sitting around. If not, we want to add this to the CVI purchase list, but not buy until we get a bigger list together.
I also centered this newly aligned beam into the IMC onto the PSL QPDs. We should now use these as a pointing reference for the beam into the IMC.
While doing this I noticed that the beam was almost clipping on the Uniblitz shutter used to block the PSL beam. That shutter is mounted too short and was also not centered horizontally. I removed it for now so that Steve can find a more adjustable mount for it and put it back into play. The beam going into the IMC is BIG, so you have to very careful when centering the shutter. Might be that we cannot leave it at 45 deg and still get a big enough aperture.
Note #3 for Steve: please also replace the mount for last steering mirror into the IMC with a Polanski or a Superman, that black Ultima is no good. Also the dogs must be steel - no aluminum dogs for our sensitive places.
|
No wonder they could not find the beam dumps. Last night was Haloween. They should of just said: Trick or treat! where are the beam dumps? |

I was working on the electronics bench and what sounded like a huge truck rolled by outside. I didn't notice anything until now, but It looks like something became misaligned when the truck passed by (~6:45-6:50 pm). I can hear a lot of noise coming out of the control room speakers and pretty much all of the IOO plots on the wall have sharp discontinuities.
I haven't been moving around much for the past 2 hours so I don't think it was me, but I thought it was worth noting.

Yesterday the last steering mirror mount on the PSL was changed, Manasa recovered the MC alignment and Jenne locked the arms.
I centered the following qpds: ASC-IBQPD, LSC-TRY, SUS-ETMY_OPLEV, LSC-TRX, SUS_ETMX_OPLEV
Touching the PSL pointing IOO-QPD_ANG & POS was a mistake. We lost the reference of the well refined MC input.
One and 20 days TRENDS plot showing the PSL output drift in pitch can be power drop
However initial pointing is amazingly good. ( I wonder about the lens in front of the qpd ?) |
