Steve pointed out that in the aftermath of the Nitrogen running out a couple of times last week, the RGA had shut itself off thinking that there was a leak and so it was not performing the scheduled scans once a day. So the data files from the scheduled scans were empty in the /opt/rtcds/caltech/c1/scripts/RGA/logs directory. The wiki page for getting it up and running again is up-to-date, but the script RGAset.py did not exist on the c0rga machine, which the RGA is communicating with via serial port. I copied over the script RGAset.py from rossa to c0rga and ran the script on that machine - but the error flags it returned were not all 0 (indicating some error according to the manual) - so I edited the script to send just the initialize command ('IN0') and commented out the other commands, after which I got error flags which were all 0. After this, I ran a manual scan using 'RGAlogger.py', and it appears that the RGA is now able to take scans again - I'm attaching a plot of the scan results. We've saved this scan as a reference to compare against after a few days.
Our last RGA scan is from February 14, 2016 We had a power outage on the 15th

Hello, I am Varun Kelkar. I will be working at the 40m lab as a SURF student this summer with Eric Quintero on Audio processing for real time control system signals. This week I will mostly be working on implementing basic DSP C-code offline. Currently I am trying to write a code for noise whitening.

As we realized during the EX table switch, the transmitted beam height from the arm is not exactly 4" relative to the endtable, it is more like 4.75" at the X-end (yet to be investigated at the Y-end). As a result, the present configuration involves the steering optics immediately before the Oplev and TransMon QPDs sending the beam downwards at about 5 degrees. Although this isn't an extremely large angle, we would like to have things more level. For this purpose, Steve has ordered some Aluminium I-beams (1/2 " thick) which we can cut to size as we require. The idea is to have the QPD enclosures mounted on these beams and then clamped to the table. One concern was electrical isolation - but Steve thinks Delrin washers between the QPD enclosure and the mount will suffice. We will move ahead with getting these machined once I investigate the situation at the Y end as well.. The I beams should be here sometime next week...
Atm2, version 2 "pdstand" will allow you to clamp from any direction ( Koji was right )
There are some issues with 5 mm sapphire prism Atm5. It will cause interference between one of the prisms and the Side OSEM.
Here are some drawings to see the issues with larger wire standoff.
The 2 mm prism will work.with a 1 mm longer dumbell.

The PMC transmission slow degration or it's input beam is not stable.
ETMX has been jumping around again lately. Just now, I zeroed the ETMX alignment offsets in the SUS model, and centered the ETMX oplev spot via slow machine sliders. OSEM damping is on, oplev damping is off. Let's see how it moves around in the next day or so.

Visual inspection of rooftop GPS antennae:
The 2 GPS antennas are located on the north west corner of CES roof. Their condition looks well weathered. I'd be surprised if they work.
The BNC connector of the 1553 head is inside of the conduit so it is more likely to have a better connection than the other one.
I have not had a chance to look into the "GPS Time Server" unit.
PSL, BS, ITMY and ETMX the illuminators were left on over night.

The GPS receiver (EndRun Technologies box in 1Y5? (rack closest to door)) seems to not coming back up properly after the reboot. The front pannel says that it's "LKD", but the "sync" LED is flashing instead of solid, and the time of year displayed on the front panel is showing day 6. The fb1 symmetricom driver and VME timing module are still both seeing day 299, though. So something may definitely be screwy with the GPS receiver.
I wiped down the cranes with wet towel and Mario our janitor did the chamber tops with the tubes.
The optical tabels were not touched.

The fire alarm came on around 15:05 for about 2-3 minutes. We all left the lab and counted heads. I called Paul Mackel x2646 (cell 626/ 890- 3259) at Fire Protection Services. He said that this alarm test was planned and we should of got an email notice. Perhaps I missed that notes.
Fire alarm went off several minutes ago. Talked to security and they said there was no fire. It beeped twice again just now. No one has been working on the IFO today.
I got some QPR Nitrile gloves. They are LIGO approved.White nitrile gloves are naturally anti-static- 109 ohms
Their touch not as good as laytex gloves but try to use them.
Given the effect on the contrast defect, the consensus at the meeting Wednesday 6-22 was that we should continue to use the existing ETMX optic.

In the attached photo from 2012, one can see the installed black glass baffle. According to the drawings (LIGO-DNNNXXX) this one has a clear aperture of 40 mm.
In (someplace ?) we have clean baffles with a 50 mm aperture which can be installed during this vent. In order to be more conservative, let us choose to swap these out for all 4 test masses during the upcoming vent using the green laser as an alignment guide, as Koji described at today's lunch meeting.

Proposed Acetone soak dish for SOS epoxy softening.
It has good acces through 5" top ID. The set up is stable and teflon lined.
Materials: glass jar with SS cover, teflon bricks, 0.008" teflon wrapped "high density Drever bricks" and aluminum
Drever brick: I beleive it is a Tungsten alloy. We used it as vac-bat savor at the coffe can. It has high density, heavy and hard, it was never identified.
I will soak one brick to see if it has any reaction ability with acetone.
NO means that only Glass and Teflon can be used for this fixture in Acetone. We can not take a chance on the coating!
I guess the small surface area Aluminum dumbbell, guide rod and-or wire standoff, magnet and epoxy does not degrade the acetone such way that it effects our coating.
Not ot mention, that only the very edge of the coating would in this solution.

I just disconnected the 6th instrument grade air cylinder from the vacuum envelope at 720 Torr. Now it will reach equilibrium through a filter as it sucks in lab air.
This is the sure way not to over pressurize the chamber.

I set up a simple HEPA filter dryer to dry your clean room garment before you can put it away into your storage box.
Our lab is dusty ! This is specially important when we are vented. Please wipe things daily and cover item with foils .... etc.
